About Wyndham Destinations
Wyndham Destinations started as a small company and is now the world’s largest vacation ownership company. With more than 245 resorts, 850,000 owners, and over 4,300 affiliated exchange properties, the vacation possibilities with Wyndham are endless. The Wyndham Destination brand portfolio includes Club Wyndham, WorldMark by Wyndham, Margaritaville Vacation Club, and Shell Vacations Club.
Wyndham has a proven track record as one of the best vacation clubs to join and provides exceptional accommodations for more than 3 million members each year. Owners enjoy the flexibility of the RCI (formerly Resort Condominium International) timeshare exchange program, which allows owners to exchange their Wyndham timeshare for thousands of destinations all over the world.
Wyndham Timeshare Resale Restrictions
Although there isn’t a long list of restrictions for Wyndham timeshare resales, it’s important to know what they are before you buy! The main restriction is that if you buy Wyndham points or timeshare resale, you will not be eligible for VIP status. You can typically achieve VIP status by buying 300,000+ points. If those points are bought on the resale market, however, you do not qualify for VIP status. Although you will not have VIP status, you can still use resale points at your favorite resorts and enjoy a variety of other benefits. The second restriction concerns converting Wyndham points into rewards points, but more on that later. Luckily, Wyndham timeshare resale restrictions aren’t as strict as some other brands.
Club Wyndham Access Timeshare Resale Restrictions
Owners of Club Wyndham Access can vacation however they like using this points-based timeshare ownership. There is no tie to a specific Club Wyndham resort since this is a strictly points-based timeshare. Each year, these owners will receive their annual allotment of points to use toward booking resort stays in Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Las Vegas, and more!
If you buy Club Wyndham Access points off the resale market and want to go to a deeded Wyndham resort that’s not in the Club Wyndham network, you can do it, but you have a different booking window. You aren’t eligible to book 12-13 months out like you can with your normal Club Wyndham ownership. It becomes a 9-month booking window.
WorldMark by Wyndham Timeshare Resale Restrictions
WorldMark by Wyndham is part of Wyndham Destinations’ portfolio of top-notch vacation clubs. You can bank, borrow, or spend your points for amazing vacations. WorldMark resorts are located in some of the world’s most desirable locations, including Mexico, Brazil, Canada, and Fiji. There are also WorldMark locations in California, Colorado, Las Vegas, and throughout the United States.
Buyers who purchase WorldMark points on the resale market can only go to resorts in the WorldMark network unless they join RCI. If you buy WorldMark points directly, you can travel to both WorldMark resorts and Wyndham resorts. Although you can save money on the resale market, this WorldMark by Wyndham resale restrictions is important to be aware of.
Wyndham Rewards Restrictions
As an owner with WorldMark or Club Wyndham, you have access to Wyndham Rewards, Wyndham’s loyalty rewards program. These Wyndham Rewards points are separate from your Club Wyndham and WorldMark points, though you can convert your WorldMark/Club Wyndham points to rewards points through the loyalty program. However, only points bought directly from Wyndham are eligible to be converted; points bought off the resale market are not eligible to be converted into rewards points. This is just another one of the few Wyndham timeshare resale restrictions.
However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t earn rewards points all the same! There are many fun ways to earn rewards points. This includes, but is not limited to, booking stays, car rentals, online shopping, using the Wyndham Rewards Earner Credit Card, and more. Of course, you can always buy Wyndham Rewards points. Points are sold in increments of 1,000, and you can purchase up to 45,000 points per year. What’s more, rewards members receive a Wyndham Rewards member rate, so you can save on hotel bookings worldwide.
Wyndham Rewards members can redeem their points for:
- Hotel stays (with a free night starting at 7,500 points)
- Maintenance and RCI exchange fees
- Gift cards
- Donations
- Merchandise
- Points Transfer Partners
