Leading vacation ownership company Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) has recently announced its acquisition of the Kyoto, Japan property, Citadines Kyoto Karasuma Gojo. This purchase will expand its offerings in the country to three and the first in Kyoto.
HGV CEO Mark Wang was excited to discuss this latest development:
“Building on our history as the leading vacation ownership company in Japan, we’re thrilled to expand our portfolio to offer even more vacation experiences to our members. Kyoto is a world-famous cultural destination for travelers, filled with history, heritage and elegance, and we’re excited to engage with new members and guests seeking cultural immersion.”
Kyoto Prefecture is a popular destination for travelers, seeing a record-setting 75 million tourists in 2023, a 13% increase from 2022. It is predicted that Kyoto will see another record-breaking year in 2024. For reference, another popular tourist destination, Orlando, Florida sees an average of 74 million annual visitors.
HGV has plans to fully renovate Citadines Kyoto Karasuma Gojo to include 63 one-bedroom timeshare units that include features like full kitchens. On-site amenities will include a fitness center, but the biggest draw is the property’s central location in Kyoto’s tourism and business district where guests are within walking distance of many restaurants, entertainment, historic landmarks, shops, and more.
Renovations are expected to start in Q2 of 2025 and end in Q1 of 2026. Sales of these new units are anticipated to begin in Q2 of 2025.
